I love my PLN! (Personal Learning Network)

Posted by Peggy George on Feb 25, 2009 in PLN, education, professionaldevelopment, socialnetworking, web2.0 |

Every day I learn new things from my personal learning network. Today I learned about this wonderful tool called Twitter Mosaic that creates a visual image of your friends and colleagues on Twitter that you can embed on a blog or wiki. It allows you to choose whether you want to include friends who follow you or all of your friends. You can also remove any images from the mosaic before you obtain your embed code (but I kept all of mine). I love having this visual reminder of all of the people who are helping me by sharing resources, answering questions and providing support/encouragement in my professional learning adventure. Check it out! Thanks to Patricia Hawkenson, a new Twitter friend, for sharing this on her website.

Get your twitter mosaic here.

Peggy I think I should probably embed a mosaic on the ISTEConnects blogs, I think they look great! Have you seen this post by Beth Stills about her PLN? Check it out you will probably like it. Thanks for signing up for the #NECC09 Tweet-Up!

Thanks for your comment, Joe! I think that’s a great idea for you to embed a mosaic on the ISTEConnects blogs. :-) I’ve even seen people use them as their “theme” or background on their Twitter page. I bought one of their mugs with “most” of my twitter network on it and I love using it daily as a reminder of all of my great PLN friends who are so supportive! I’m really looking forward to NECC09!!

Peggy, I just came across your blog, and just wanted to say thank you for the great information. I am also a teacher (just finished my 7th year in my second career), and have become entranced with educational technology. I can’t wait to use some of the resources you’ve provided for my class this school year. I would love to get updates – are you also on Twitter, or just RSS feed? Again, thanks so much!

Hi Patty,
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your encouraging comments. I’m really behind with updating posts on my blog because of lots of fantastic traveling this summer. I’ve also been spending some time trying to learn more about using Moodle. If you haven’t clicked on the link for my Moodle site, be sure to check it out. There are tons of fantastic web 2.0 resources there and you can access them all just by logging in as a guest–no password required. I’ll get busy on updating my blog posts very soon. I’d love to have you follow me on Twitter. I’m here: http://twitter.com/pgeorge. Thanks again for leaving a comment.

Hi Peggy,
I’ve just attended in the Classroom 2.0 LIVE Show on Cell Phones in Education hosted by Kim Caise, Lorna Costantini and you. It was actually amazing, real-time session. I am grateful to you for such an altruist work that benefit educators around the world. Personally, I learnt a lot from Liz Kolb.
Additionally, visiting your outstanding website, I found this post. Great idea to embed a Twitter mosaic on our blogs; as you have noticed, I really emulated you embeding my own Twitter followers mosaic on my blog: http://victorhugor.blogspot.com
Warm regards.
